Current hiatus

Dear Sci-Curious,

Due to other commitments Cafe Sci will continue to be on a small hiatus until the new year (2017).

If you are interested in hosting the event, would like to volunteer to speak or suggest a topic then email cafescigld [@] gmail [dot] com.

The next event will be posted here and via the mailing list as soon as they are confirmed.

Thanks for you patience

  1. I once had the idea of promoting a diet that I called The Intellectual Diet. The idea was to have quizzes and puzzles designed to exercise the mind based on the premise that the brain consumes a significant proportion of our sugar intake and that exercising it would cause it to use even more sugar. I found that there has been research into this very topic and that the amount of sugar the brain uses bears no relation to the amount of thinking that it is doing. Nevertheless, I’m anticipating that some scammer to come up with this one.

  2. Cafe Sci Guildford is taking a break.
Come attend Cafe Sci Woking instead.

The Athletic Body Project – Steve Keywood

Tues 8 November at 19:00 for 19:30 (first come best seats)
Cellar Magneval Wine Bar & Caveau
    3 Church Path, GU21 6EJ Woking

Steve Keywood is a Local Legend – Iron Man Ultra Runner, Fit Green Bootcamp Commander, and Fitness Trainer to.. well, to local people.. whatever. Despite this – or maybe because of it – he is also one of the most thoughtful fitness people I know, and remarkably clued up on fitness science. So this promises to be one of our most entertaining, and fascinating, Cafe Scientifics. Just don’t eat the Keywood Salad.
